FUE and FUT hair transplant – the comparison

The comparison – FUE and FUT hair transplant

There are a variety of different types of hair transplant Türkiye for hair loss. The hair loss solution preferred by most patients is a hair transplant. In hair transplantation, the donor hair is transplanted from part of the scalp – the “donor site” – to the bald part of the scalp – the “recipient site”. This is possible with two methods, FUE and FUT hair transplantation.

Difference FUE and FUT hair transplant

Hair transplantation is primarily used to treat hair loss in men. The two different types of transplantation are: FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) and FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation), which is sometimes referred to as the strip method. Both procedures aim to achieve the same results in the end, but they are fundamentally very different types of operations.

What is FUE hair transplant?

FUE is the modern technique of hair transplantation. This treatment is more advanced than previous hair transplant methods. In follicle extraction, a highly experienced doctor extracts the hair follicles from the donor area (typically the nape of the neck) using a special extraction device. The follicles are then transferred to the recipient area. Using a special microsurgical needle, the surgeon punctures the area of the scalp that will receive the grafts. The grafts are then placed into the recipient area at an angle and with a specific density so that they resemble a natural and realistic hair pattern.

What is FUT hair transplant?

Follicular unit transplantation is a procedure in which the hair is transplanted from the back and sides of the scalp and moved to the balding areas of the scalp. The patient is anesthetized before the treatment, and a doctor removes strips of tissue from the donor area. After extraction, the donor strip is cut into individual follicular units. The doctor then makes tiny holes in the scalp where the follicular unit grafts are carefully placed. When placing the transplants, the doctor is assisted by a team of nurses.

Which method? – FUE or FUT hair transplant?

FUE is now the global standard. Most patient scenarios now consider the strip method to be outdated. FUE also takes significantly less time to heal than FUT. Since only individual follicles are removed, very small puncture scars are created that are barely visible to the naked eye. FUE hair transplantation leaves almost no postoperative pain and discomfort, and the average recovery time is less than 7 days.
